Reinvesting in Public Education

Teachers and schools, more than any other profession or institution, profoundly influence the future we, our children - and their children - will live in the rest of our lives. Investing in good teachers and good schools is not an option, it’s a critical necessity.

We must invest in our schools to provide our children the best materials, equipment, and facilities. We must invest in teachers, to attract the best and brightest people to this challenging and critical profession. Perhaps most importantly, we must recognize that standardized testing is well-suited to the profit interests of corporations but antithetical to the interests of our communities, schools, teachers, parents, and students. We must restructure schools around their core purpose - learning - rather than around testing and conformity.
