Friends,

Politics-as-usual isn't working. Every day I drive down Michigan Avenue and wonder, "how do our elected officials drive down this road and do nothing to fill these potholes?" I walk into our schools in the capital city and wonder, "how can our representatives make excuses for this neglect?" I join 80,945 people in making public comments against allowing Nestle to pump our state's water and profit off it, while people in Michigan go without clean water, and I wonder, "how can our elected officials allow this to happen?" Then I realize that these elected representatives don't struggle to pay for car repairs or clean water. Most of our elected representatives don't seem to worry about our teachers' low wages or the challenges ordinary folks in Michigan face every day because they're more concerned with their large campaign donors and climbing their own political ladders.

I am running for State Representative in Michigan's 68th district because I know what it's like to struggle to put food on the table. I have lived the hardship of trying to stretch a paycheck to pay for school supplies every August. Just like most people in our district, I have had to grapple with the decision to pay one bill or feed my family. It's time to bring working people into the fold and make sure our voices are heard. We need a progressive who is willing to stand with the many, not the few and demand working people's voices are heard and demand action.

The time is now. Join us.

In solidarity,

Kelly Collison
